Annual William Lowell Putnam Mathematics Competition
|
The Annual William Lowell Putnam Mathematics Competition is designed to stimulate a healthful rivalry in
mathematical studies in the colleges and universities of the United States and Canada. The Competition was
established in 1938 in the memory of William Lowell Putnam, a member of the Harvard class of 1882 and a firm
believer in the merits of an intellectual intercollegiate competition. Since its inception, the Competition has
been administered by the Mathematical Association of America. The Sixtieth Competition took place on Saturday, December 6th, 1999.
